Get a lease agreement signed without printing it
Landlords and tenants sign from a link on their phones. Nothing gets printed, nobody drives anywhere, and the signed lease lands in both inboxes with a record of exactly who signed what.
Why it drags
A lease is signed by two people who are rarely in the same room, often at the worst possible moment - the tenant is moving, the landlord is between properties, and the agency is trying to hold a start date. The paper version means a printer at both ends, a scanner at at least one, and a version of the document nobody can find three months later when the deposit is disputed.

One version, provably unchanged
The executed PDF is sealed. If a page is altered afterwards, the seal says so - which is the whole point when a deposit is being argued over a year later.
Initials that are actually assigned
Each field belongs to one party. A tenant cannot initial the landlord's pages, by accident or otherwise.

Questions about lease agreements
Can a residential lease be signed electronically in South Africa?
Yes. A lease of residential property is an ordinary agreement and the ECT Act recognises an electronic signature on it. What the Act excludes is the sale or transfer of immovable property - a deed of sale or a mortgage bond - not renting it out.
What about a long lease over land?
Leases of land for ten years or longer carry their own registration requirements against the title deed. That is a conveyancing question rather than a signing one, so check with your attorney before sending a long lease electronically.
Can I require initials on every page?
Yes. Place an initial field on each page and assign it to the party who must complete it. The document cannot be finished with fields outstanding.
Do both parties get a copy?
Yes. Everyone who signed receives the sealed executed lease with the full audit trail attached.
